We’re extremely grateful to Dr. Sarah Alexander for her years of service as Campfire Circle’s Medical Director and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee.

As the Clinical Director, Division of Haematology/Oncology at SickKids, Dr. Sarah first joined Campfire Circle (then Camp Ooch) in 2014 as a summer camp doctor and was appointed to our Board of Directors as Medical Director in 2018. Throughout her tenure, Dr. Sarah has guided Campfire Circle through years of significant growth — steering us through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, expanding our volunteer medical team, and broadening our camper eligibility to include children affected by cancer, heart disease, sickle cell disease, serious blood disorders, solid organ failure and transplants, and other medically complex conditions.

Campfire Circle is stronger today because of Dr. Sarah’s expertise, credibility, and compassionate leadership. We are proud of you!!!

We are delighted to share that Dr. Paul Gibson has joined Campfire Circle’s Board of Directors as our new Medical Director and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee. Dr. Gibson has been a valued member of our camp community since 2010, serving on our onsite medical team at camp and as a longstanding member of the Medical Advisory Committee, which guides our medical policies and procedures. His leadership comes at a pivotal moment as we expand our programs to serve more kids with cancer and serious illness across Ontario. We are deeply grateful that our campers, families, and staff will continue to benefit from his leadership and expertise. Alongside his new role with Campfire Circle, Dr. Gibson will continue as Associate Medical Director of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO).
