Celebrating Our Nurses – Nurse Ridwaanah

For Ridwaanah, providing care goes beyond medicine—it’s about presence, creativity, and fun. “You’ll use your clinical skills, yes, but you’ll also choreograph dances and cheer at talent shows. It’s rewarding in every way,” she says.

Inspired to become a nurse after volunteering at SickKids in high school, now Ridwaanah is a part of the Cardiac Critical Care Unit at SickKids. Through Camp Oki and now Campfire Circle, Ridwaanah spends her summers singing campfire songs, crafting with campers, and waterproofing central lines so kids can jump in the lake at Muskoka.

Her favourite part of camp? “Seeing kids I cared for in the ICU just be kids—laughing, climbing on the ropes course, swimming. It’s pure joy,” she says.

One standout memory: a backcountry portage trip where campers bonded over shared experiences. “They supported each other through every muddy trail and tough moment. It was powerful.”
