Honouring Nurses and the Partnerships That Make Camp Possible

As we celebrate National Nursing Week, we’re shining a light on the partnerships and people who make healing through happiness possible.
We are especially grateful to McKesson Canada and its INVIVA team for their unique and multi-faceted partnership. Not only do they provide our camp with compassionate, skilled nurse volunteers, they’re also doubling the impact of their support with a 2X match on all donations made by May 31, 2025.
Together, with dedicated nurses like Karen Beacham, we can continue to create opportunities for children with serious illness to find joy, belonging, and moments of healing.
“Campfire Circle was more than just a summer escape; it was a profound, life-changing journey,” says Karen Beacham, Nursing Manager at INVIVA. “Stepping into this incredible world where children with cancer gather, I found myself surrounded by courage, laughter, and an unyielding spirit. Volunteering allowed me to contribute to a community that embraced each child with warmth and understanding, helping them find joy and strength despite their diagnosis.”
Whether treating tummy aches, administering medications, or delivering on-site chemotherapy, our nurses ensure that every camper, including those undergoing active treatment or with complex health needs, can fully participate in camp.
“The memories I’ve made and the connections I’ve formed at Campfire Circle will forever be etched in my heart,” Karen adds. “It’s a place where I not only gave, but also received so much more in return. I encourage everyone to be the spark that ignites change and experience the profound illumination that comes from making a difference in the lives of these incredible children.”
To all nurses—and especially our Campfire Circle nursing teams—thank you. Your expertise, and unwavering care mean the world to our campers and their families.
