Giving Back to Camp
For Angelina, Campfire Circle is more than just a summer tradition—it’s a place of belonging, growth, and unforgettable experiences.
She first attended camp at 10 years old, and like many first-time campers, Angelina felt a mix of nerves and excitement when she arrived. But a welcoming counsellor quickly eased her fears.
Over the years, Angelina has cherished many incredible memories at camp. Some of her favourite activities include arts and crafts, sunrise paddleboarding, and the exhilarating giant swing. One standout memory is an overnight canoe trip where five girls somehow managed to squeeze into a two-person tent—a night filled with laughter, bonding, and the kind of connections that last a lifetime.

“Campfire Circle was an amazing support system throughout my childhood,” Angelina shares. “It gave me a community where I felt safe and valued, but also a place to be my truest self and try new experiences. The friendships I’ve made and the people I’ve met have had such a big impact on my life.”
Beyond the fun and adventure, camp has shaped Angelina into the person she is today. She works full-time in childcare as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) assistant and she has no plans to away from camp, she’s looking forward to returning to volunteer for a week and giving back to the place that gave her so much.
For anyone thinking about attending Campfire Circle for the first time, Angelina has one simple piece of advice: “TRY EVERYTHING! Meet new people, try new things, step out of your comfort zone, and embrace the silliest, truest version of yourself. Camp is that magical place where you can be yourself and explore new adventures.”
Angelina’s journey is a testament to the transformation that camp offers, friendships, personal growth, and joy that comes from being a part of a community that truly understands and supports one another.
