2024 Sporting Life 10K
On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, over 20,000 participants laced up and took to Yonge Street for the 24th annual Sporting Life 10K. To date, this year ’s event has raised more than $2.1 million to support our year-round camp-inspired programs for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
A record number of camper families and corporate teams participated in the event and collectively raised an incredible $1.4 million. We are so grateful for the efforts of our top teams: Justice League, Team Scarlett, Team Edyn, KMs in the Right Direction, QuadReal Property Group, TD Bank, Benjamin the Brave, Play Has No Limits, Team Esmé, Team Nomi, Chill Will, Volkswagen Group Canada, SiriusXM Happy Campers, McCarthy Tétrault LLP, Team IPEX, Questrade Financial Group, and Porsche Cars Canada.
We are also grateful for the 30 campers and their families who volunteered at the event, cheering on participants in a pool noodle tunnel, handing out medals at the finish line, and getting on stage for the big fundraising reveal.
Rebecca Laurence began coming to camp when she was five years old and recently graduated from the Campfire Circle programs. She volunteered for first time at the Sporting Life 10K because it’s a great way for her to keep in touch with the community. “It’s also a lot of fun and a great way for me to make new friends,” she adds.
Similarly, Arianna Toolsie, a camper since she was eight months old, is a repeat Sporting Life 10K volunteer. “It brings me a lot of joy to help and show gratitude for people who support Campfire Circle.”
“I want to give back to those who want to give back to us,” chimes in Aniko Vargha, a camper since she was two years old. “Campfire Circle has been a great joy in my life and I want to make sure everyone experiences the same love.”
The Sporting Life 10K, one of the biggest running events of the year, has cumulatively raised nearly $27 million for Campfire Circle. With an additional 650 people participating in the 10K virtually throughout the month of May, we encourage all participants to rally and continue to fundraise during the next couple of weeks.
“The Sporting Life 10K was once again a huge success thanks to our valued partnership with Sporting Life, our stellar participants, sponsors, fundraisers, volunteers and the many individuals who came out on Sunday to champion Campfire Circle,” says Alex Robertson, CEO of Campfire Circle. “Thanks to your support, Campfire Circle can provide year-round programs that bring healing through happiness to kids and families in hospitals throughout Ontario, local communities and at our overnight camps. A big thank you to all the mothers and caregivers who spent their special day with us.”
Thank you to our sponsors ASICs, Shiseido, ICON, Hydro Splash, Diesel, and our media partner, The Toronto Star.
Next year’s Sporting Life 10K will take place on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
The final fundraising total will be announced in the first week of June. To donate to this year’s race, visit www.sportinglife10k.ca
