Countdown to camp!
Gather Round This Summer at Overnight Camp!
In just two weeks, children and families affected by childhood cancer are coming to overnight camp at Campfire Circle Muskoka and Rainbow Lake! After two long years of pandemic disruption, we’re thrilled to welcome them back in-person, as we know camp is needed now more than ever. We’re grateful for your support, which makes it possible for us to provide these amazing experiences so that our Campers can make new friends, connect and heal.
Our summer staff and volunteers are at camp now, training together as a team, scrubbing the kayaks and canoes down, getting the pool noodles ready, and making sure everything is in tip-top shape for Campers to arrive. Our Medical Advisory Team has guided us and put in place robust health protocols to ensure camp will be a safe space for all to enjoy.
Hundreds of kids and families will experience the fun, friendship and magic of camp this summer! And they couldn’t be more excited. One thankful mom shared what it meant for her son to be able to go to camp:
“I can’t wait for him to have this experience; it has been a long couple of years. Being in and out of the hospital has been a lot for him and our entire family. If what you have been doing in-hospital with us is just a fraction of what is offered up at camp – well, I just can’t wait to hear all the stories. Thank you for giving him back the chance to be with his peers, make new friends and gain his independence back. The second he heard he could go to camp on his own he said to me, ‘I can’t wait to go up to camp all on my own and meet new people. No offence mom, but I can’t wait.’”
As we approach the summer and the return to camp, we thank you for your continued friendship and support, which means so much to our Campers and families. We’re so excited to have you gather round the campfire with us this summer – whether in person or in thought – and to help us spread the magic of camp to so many deserving children and families.
With gratitude,
Alex Robertson
