Celebrations of life and love, together

various pictures of staff and campers enjoying virtual camp

The COVID pandemic had arrived, but so had the difficult news that Camper Alison’s time was drawing to a close. Our staff swiftly moved into action to run a virtual palliative program to celebrate her life and bring her loved ones together, wherever they were.

Our theme was “Princess Slumber Party” and all the participants arrived online in their finest pajamas! We met new friends, reunited with old ones, and engaged in various crafts and games.

Activities at the program included DIY pillow cases, unicorn masks, tiara trivia, and of course GLITTER slime, where we learned that—there is no such thing as too much glitter! We provided the family with a Polaroid camera for them to capture the special moments, and a frame for them to continue their crafting and make a collage of their pictures.

The program went incredibly well and the Camper’s mother reached out after receiving a recording of the slumber party explaining the impact that it had on their family.

“We loved capturing the moments on the camera, it was fascinating and so much fun for our daughter. She is excited to do some more crafts today! You have brought much joy to our family and helped us make very special memories with our precious little princess”
