This Sunday, May 14, marks the 23rd Sporting Life 10K, presented by ASICS. This sold-out event welcomes more than 16,000 runners, walkers and strollers to Yonge Street in support of Campfire Circle.

For those participating, please pick up your race kit at The Sporting Life store at 2665 Yonge St, Toronto (east side of Yonge St., four blocks south of Lawrence, at Blythwood Rd.). Every participant was emailed a bib number, which along with a government-issued photo ID, is required at pick up.

Race kits can be picked up between Tuesday, May 9 to Friday, May 12 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm or on Saturday, May 13 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

For out-of-town participants, race kits are available on event day at the start line beginning at 6:00 am.

The start line of the Sporting Life 10K begins at Yonge St. and Davisville Ave. From the start line, the run proceeds south down the iconic Yonge Street to Wellington Street. The route proceeds west along Wellington Street to Bay Street, south on Bay Street to Lake Shore Blvd. Participants will finish on Lake Shore Blvd. by Exhibition Place and Ontario Place and then make their way to Bandshell Park at Exhibition Place for the post-race party.

As one of the biggest running events in Canada, participants can expect a variety of runners, walkers and strollers. The first corral begins at 7:30 am with waves every five minutes until 9:00 am. Please arrive at the time you are expected for your corral.

Shuttle buses are back this year, and those who have purchased a pass can take advantage of the shuttle from the finish line to the start line pre-race. The shuttle bus pick-up location is on Prince’s Blvd., near Bandshell Park and the Princess Margaret Fountain. The bus drop-off location is near Yonge and Eglinton and the Sporting Life 10K start line.

Shuttle buses start at 6:00 am until 7:30 am. The last bus leaves at 7:30 am.

Shuttle buses are limited to participants with passes purchased ahead of time. No walk-ups are available. Each shuttle bus trip takes approximately 30 minutes to get to the start area.

As soon as participants cross the finish line, Sportstats is on hand to provide real-time stats, and there are opportunities to take photos, and commemorate the end of training with a finisher medal.

At the post-race party zone, meals and snacks can be purchased from food trucks, and there’s a game of Plinko, a dunk tank, and live entertainment.

For those in teams that raised more than $25,000, tents will be set up for the opportunity to regroup and celebrate training and fundraising accomplishments together.

There’s much to do and see at this year’s Sporting Life 10K – event attendees are invited to stay, warm up by a cozy faux fire and perhaps take home Campfire Circle gear to wear proudly all year long.

All net proceeds of the Sporting Life 10K will fuel Campfire Circle’s year-round efforts to bring healing through happiness to kids and families through in-hospital, community, and overnight camp programs.
